Our original Dovetail Saw handled in Shedua. Shedua is a hard and dense West African tropical wood with alternating black and brown stripes with a natural depth which is quite striking. This wood has more names that any other hardwood. The same species used in Guitars is called Ovangkol. When used in other articles such as case good or tools is is also called Amazique. When cut into veneer it is known as Mozambique. All refer to the same species of Guibourtia Ehie. Regardless of what you call it, this makes a fantastic looking handle!
This saw has a 9" long blade with 1 5/8" under the back. The blade is .018" thick with a uniform, even set measuring .025" sufficient for easy cutting in dry seasoned hardwoods. The teeth have a progressive pitch which start at 16 points and become coarser over the length of the blade ending up at 13 points under the handle. This allows for a saw that is easy to start and fast in the cut.
