YS12 Early Justus Traut Rosewood Mortise Gauge

$35.00

Here is an early production, presumably Stanley, marking gauge of rosewood. It is used to mark out mortice and tenon joints. Its stamped with an Oct 22, 1872 patent date which corresponds to a Justus Traut patent for the brass shoe that the screw in the sliding head bears upon. In good shape with modest wear, the microadjust pin slides freely as it should by adjusting the brass screw at the end of the beam. ready to go to work in your shop.
