YS6 All Iron Fray 8" Sweep Brace

This Spoffard style brace is unique in the way it hold the bit in that the frame is split, and it grabs the tang of the bit and is secured by a large thumbscrew. This would have originally been japanned but this example is 100% bright and without finish. Made by Fray in Bridgeport, CT. The pad spins nice and tight, patent data and manufacturer mark is easily seen on the frame. With an 8" sweep, this is a great brace for chairmaking or general boring.
